Title
Formulation of analytics problem (5%)

Description
Each group will create a document that formulates the given public/business problem/product as a data
analytics problem. This document should anticipate the skills and tools necessary to solve/create the
problem/product and should anticipate challenges that will be met along the way. A review of the
relevant technical literature should also be apparent.

Outcomes Assessed
Formulate the public/business problem/product as a well-defined and coherent analytics problem:
• Translate the public/business problem/product into an equivalent analytics problem
• Establish a clear definition of success
• Identify the relevant analytical and statistical methods necessary for delivering the
product/solution
• Outline a full data science pipeline that a practitioner in the field could reasonably expect to
solve/create the relevant problem/product
