Class Project
Week 5

(Due: Monday 12/6/2019 by 5pm PT, Early submission is strongly recommended)

Read and understand Week 5 Lecture Set 1.1 Monte Carlo simulation and related materials in the
textbook, (pp. 67 – 70).
1. Follow the questions asked for you to answer on Class A and Class B random sequences.
2. For the class project, you need to turn in an informal report of 5-10 pages describing what
problem you are solving and the corresponding results. Any detailed information (including
listing of your programming codes) should be placed in the Appendix. However, do not print
out the actual random sequence values.

Grading will take into account the completeness of the report. For instance, showing analysis and
comparing analysis with Monte Carlo simulation, providing your inference, deriving CDF of Laplace
and showing how it was used to generate Laplacian vector, plotting BER curve, etc. You can also think
outside the box and be creative as applicable.
