You will deliver a five-minute presentation explaining why you have chosen your selected project

The presentation should provide a structured justification, using project management principles to

support the selection.

Context

As a professional working in Project Management, your ability to justify and communicate the

rationale behind selecting a project is essential to engaging stakeholders and gaining support for

your project.

Effective project selection involves aligning the project’s goals with the needs of the business and/or

stakeholders, demonstrating feasibility, and ensuring strategic value. This assessment is designed to

enhance your ability to articulate your decision-making process when selecting a project. Through

this assessment, you will develop and demonstrate your understanding of the following key Project

Management competencies:

• Understanding project selection criteria - Exploring factors such as feasibility, strategic

alignment with business goals, and stakeholder impact.

selection.

• Preparing for professional practice - Project managers must frequently justify their project

• Select your preferred topic from the list of projects provided.

2. Prepare Your Presentation Content (around 7 slides)

• Slide 1: Title Slide – Include your name, project title, and course details.

• Slide 2: Introduction – Briefly introduce yourself and provide an overview of the

project and its objectives.

• Slide 3: Value Proposition – Describe the benefits of the project, including potential

impact, innovation, or problem-solving elements.

• Slide 4: Strategy – Outline how this project and its objectives link back to the

company strategy. What are the key strategic factors that have been considered by

the company when choosing to undertake this project.

• Slide 5: Financial and Non-Financial considerations – Based on what you have read

in the project overview, outline the key information you have identified related to

resources, budget, quality, and risks.

• Slide 6: Stakeholder Communications – Identify key stakeholders and discuss how

their needs are addressed. Provide a stakeholder communications plan for the

duration of the project.

• Slide 7: Conclusion – Summarise key points and restate why the project is a strong

choice. Provide a closing statement emphasising project significance.

3. Presentation Format and Delivery

• Use clear and concise language.

• Support your arguments with relevant project management principles.

• Incorporate visuals (optional), such as slides, charts, or diagrams, to enhance

understanding.

• Maintain professional tone, eye contact, and confident delivery.
