Assignment 3 Instructions
Objective: Based on the processed hotel data from Assignment 2 (not the raw data but the one with added necessary columns), complete the following tasks:
1. Import the data (10 pts)
o Import the processed data from Assignment 2 into Tableau.
2. Create visualizations and dashboard (70 pts)
o Create at least 4 charts and combine them into a dashboard.
An example is shown in the figure below.
You can create the exact same dashboard or design charts based on your own interests.
o Use appropriate filters (e.g., Cancelled/Not Cancelled).
o You can drag dimensions like Hotel Type or Cancellation Status to the Pages area (on the left of Rows and Columns).
o Add colors to improve visual appeal.
o Rename all worksheets for clarity.
3. Write a description (20 pts)
o Write a short description for your dashboard to explain your findings.
4. Submit the Tableau file to Canvas.
Hints
1. Ensure the file format is correct when importing.
2. Use appropriate filters, such as cancellation status, and consider dragging dimensions (e.g., Hotel Type) to the Pages area.
3. Add colors to distinguish different data categories.
4. Rename each worksheet in Tableau to reflect the content of the chart.
5. You can add Text to Dashboard by dragging Text under Objects on the left of Dashboard.
Group Requirements
• You can complete the assignment independently or work as part of a group.
• Each group can consist of 1-3 members.
• If your group has:
o 1 person: At least 4 charts are required.
o 2 people: At least 6 charts are required.
o 3 people: At least 8 charts are required.
• If creating many charts, you may use two dashboards for better organization.
• Each group member may submit the same content but must submit their own file individually to Canvas, including the names of all group members in the
filename.
