Your Assignment
This assignment provides you with the opportunity to support the preparations for your intended career
path in the screen industries, or postgraduate study, after completing the course. Through the
application of primary and secondary research, you'll gain an informed and detailed understanding of
the factors and forces that shape your chosen sector of employment or postgraduate study. This in turn
will help you to identify strategies for securing work opportunities following your graduation.
You are encouraged to arrange interviews with either current practitioners, or members of the
organisations and Guilds that underpin the sector that you are focussing your Report and CV towards.
Format
Your Curriculum Vitae (CV) should follow directly after your Report’s Reference List.
Assessment
You are required to submit for assessment:
• A 1500-word Report, to include the following:
1. A summary of your intended sector of employment and or the subject area for
postgraduate study
2. Reference List, including references to sector data and statistics
3. A Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Learning Outcomes
This assignment will be assessed against the four UAL assessment criteria: Enquiry, Knowledge,
Communication and Realisation. See: arts.ac.uk/assessment
On completion of this unit, you will be able to:
How the learning outcomes are to be evidenced in
this assignment
LO1: Critically identify and interpret workforce data
and intelligence sources about the creative industries
or postgraduate study (Enquiry)
Your report must show evidence that you have
incorporated knowledge of your chosen sector of
employment based on data and industry intelligence
sources that you have analysed in your enquiry phase.
Evidence of these sources are to be placed in the body
of the report, or in an appendix, after your Reference
List.
LO2: Understand the structure of the intended sector
of investigation and the relationship between
different sectors (Knowledge)
In your report, you are to demonstrate your
knowledge of your chosen sector by describing the
role within the structure of the sector or organisation.
For example, an editor could either be in-house or a
freelancer. Each of these contexts informs the
structure of employment for an individual.

skills underpinned by data analysis and concise
communication methods (Communication)

the visualisation of information and data that you
have collated in your enquiry phase. Visuals are to be

given also to graphic design, including font, colour,
layout and the professional presentation of
information.
LO4: Evidence through a coherent and informative
presentation, a personal and professional
development New Entrant career plan
(Realisation)
Through the presenting of your report and your
Curriculum Vitae (CV), you must evidence that you
have researched and considered your career plan, in
how you intend to either gain employment in your
chosen sector or further study at either a film school
or a Post Graduate course such as a master's
programme.
