Further reminders & highlights
about A2
•You are NOT really sending out your job application to the
company, you are preparing the materials and submit it to
your lecturer who will then interview you in A3
•Pay attention to the basic requirements concerning
educational qualifications in the Job ad.: the job you are
targeting must be for AD/HD students/graduates or for
diploma level.
•The descriptions in Job ad. should fit your background and
qualifications. (See the marking rubric)
e.g. It will affect your A2 mark if the job requires you to have 2
years of working experience but you have no working
experience or if it specifies that you should speak fluent, native
oral English but in reality, you cannot speak like a native
speaker, etc. i.e. Don’t ignore the job requirements!
•Why traditional resume when in reality we sometimes fill out application forms in
job applications?
There is no harm keeping a softcopy of a traditional CV = a comprehensive
personal record of what you have done so far. You will find it useful in future
applications (further study, exchange programmes, scholarship, job, ECA, etc.)
•Use the actual recipient’s details found on the advertisement & everything
in the résumé(i.e. the personal information) should be REAL!
•Sometimes applicants do their job hunting on mobile applications /websites
where they can directly submit their job application materials. i.e. you cannot see
the actual address & email address of that the company in a job ad. In that case,
you can visit the official website to find the REAL contact information. If you can’t
find the email address in the job ad., please contact your lecturer for further
advice or you can use a made-up email address for this assignment:
job@hr.(company name).hke.g. if you apply for a position at a company called
HappyMedical, & fail to find its email address, please use
*You are encouraged to borrow ideas and use some useful
expressions found in some good samples, but don’t direct copy
from any samples online/in your notes → plagiarizing = F grade
Why can’tI make up information in
assignment 2’s CV & job application letter?
1)It isunethical to do so
2)This assignment aims to help you in
your real applications in the future &
thus submission of authentic materials
= save your effort later when you apply
for a job or an academic/ a scholarship/
an exchange programme
3)It is actually easyto tell if a student
makes up information as one will be
asked questions related to his/her
CV in A3 interview
Highlights about the Job Ad.

submission, please show the original job ad.
•DON’T take pictures of the job ad. shown on your computer’s
screen
•Make sure you have includeALL the information of the job ad.
•Details shown in your pdf file should be of good
resolution/readability
•Only showing part of the job ad./ low readability or resolution of the
