Spring term project – part 1

In this project you and a partner or two will explore an area of interest and share your

findings. The hope is that you will pick an area of real interest, one that is or will be

important in your life or the world about you, and that you are somewhat unfamiliar with the

subject.

You will need to include the following elements in your work:

A general background of the topic/region/people etc and your interest in understanding it

better.

Statistics to give us insight into your area of interest. You will need to use a minimum of ..

• 4 numerical statistics (at least 2 from measures of center and spread)

• 5 diNerent graph types for single variable data (bar, box plot etc)

• 1 analysis of bivariate numerical data (scatter, regression

• 1 comparison of proportions

• 1 comparison of means

• 1 utilization of chi square

To complete your work you must use utilize at least 3 diNerent technologies. Options

include the following. Do try to use at least one technology you have not used before or at

least have no real skill with. If you have others please let me know!

• Excel/Numbers/Sheets

• Desmos

• R & R studio

• Art of stat

• Tableau

Your final presentation will need to include a general summary of your findings and

supporting documentation should include a spread sheet of main data you used and a

bibliography of sources for your information/data.

The format of your final presentation should include using at minimum 2 of the following. If

you have other ways you like…let me know! Try to include something you don’t have a lot of

experience with

• Posters

• Powerpoints

• Dossiers

• Trifold pamphlets

• Videos

• Podcasts

• Webpages
