THE UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX
BSc Accounting and Finance
N1567 EMPIRICAL FINANCE PROJECT
Assessment Period: August 2022 (A3)
For this assessment, you need to submit your final dissertation. The final dissertation counts for 70% of the module assessment. The word count should be in the range of 7000-8000. Penalties could be given if your word count exceeds the limit. A successful dissertation should cover the following contents. Firstly, you need to first choose a suitable research topic, where relevant background information and motivation need to be provided. Next, you need to complete a literature review, and propose your research idea. Your research idea needs to be engaged with the existing literature. For example, you could identify a theoretical gap in the literature and aim to address it. Next, proper research methodologies need to be selected before applied in the empirical study. Finally, empirical results need to be presented clearly, concisely and coherently. Work individually to present financial information, concepts and arguments to a variety of audiences using appropriate communication techniques. A cover sheet, which is attached below, should be added at the beginning of the dissertation. The detailed marking scheme is attached below, and it can be also found on the module Canvas site (Assessment Information).
