Assignment
1. By varying the patch dimensions and the offset length, match the antenna at 3.6 GHz. This means an s11 lower than -12 dB at least. Do not change the substrate height and the material properties. It will take a few iterations, so be patient!
2. Remove the infinite ground plane (now defined as PEC boundary condition) and create a ground plane of the same size of the board at the back of the board.
To see an effect of this change, you will need to change the boundary conditions accordingly.
3. Re-run the simulation to see if something changed; if so, compensate for it
4. Apply far field sensors and plot the gain of the antenna in 3D and for phi=0 and phi=90deg for both ground plane cases. Please comment on bandwidth and polarization of the antenna.
The coursework you will have to submit will be the archived EMpro files, plus a short report explaining the content of the EMPRO file, explaining your design choices, and showing/commenting the simulation results (for example, how matching changed when you changed the parameters, how the radiation diagram changed with and without infinite ground plane)
