Section A – Assessment Information
Summary and Purpose of Assessment The assessment is designed to test your expertise: • Design, Build & Test Network Servers Assessment Instructions • Location, due date and time have been set up for the assessment on CANVAS. • You should have been provided with a copy of the Student Version of this assessment task on Week 3 and have 5 weeks to complete the tasks. • It is Mandatory to be present On Campus for every Task to be check or tick off in the Assessor’s Checklist before submitting this completed Checked Practical Assessment Task document What • The Assessor used a Checklist to assess the Student’s progress • All Written Questions are to be answered under each question • All Practical questions must be demonstrated using the virtual machines running Windows 10, Windows Server 2022.and Linux Mint Server. Appropriate screenshots are to be attached under the respective questions. • Written Questions are be answered and then verbally in class to the teacher. Answer all the questions as applicable to the scenario in each task. Scenario You are working as an IT System Engineer at ELink Technology. You have been given a project to implement the IT infrastructure to a new customer called TPB Pty Ltd in Melbourne. You must prepare the design and submit to TPB for their feedback. You will have to install and setup the servers and services. TPB Pty Ltd is a courier service agency. Currently TPB has got 10 workgroup computers and two network printers. Management is planning to open a new branch in Dandenong and planning to have 5 more computers and a Printer. Their computers are quite old and running Windows 7 Operating system. Currently they do not have any server machine. They are also looking for a Linux based firewall to protect their network. TPB Melbourne Office The management wants to manage IT infrastructure and network management straight forward as they do not have a full-time IT support officer. You are to implement a Domain based network with Active Directory and other services. Network connectivity with internet connection together with site-to-site connectivity. Reliability with redundancy should be taken into consideration. Phase 1 – Planning and Design Item 1.1 In preparing a data communication / servers room, setting up the hardware and its accessories, list the specific safety requirements and workplace health procedures requirements according to the appropriate OHS and WHS Acts. Item 1.2 For the proposed Domain based network with Active Directory and other services, create a design list which should include the required number of servers required and network services needed as per TPB client’s requirements. (Hint: Consider all the Server Services covered in the Canvas Course). Item 1.3 Create a fully labelled Packet Tracer diagram for the proposed Enterprise Domain based network from the design list including multi-site implementation, redundancy and security considerations. Item 1.4 What are the different ways you can liaise with appropriate person at TPB to get approval of your design proposal? Item 1.5 What are the current data storage situations of TPB? Item 1.6 Suggest solutions in backing up current local and stored data. Once proposed servers are installed, implement method of accessing data from your solution to the Domain based network with multiple sites. Item 1.7 Identify the downtime for the current network and provide TPB with appropriate deployment schedule for the Implementation and Testing of the Domain based network. Phase 2 – Implementation Item 2.1 What hardware requirements Item 2.2 Create installation checklist having specific order to install different services for the Domain based network with Active Directory and other services.(Hint: Reference to Item 1.2 and 1.3) Item 2.3 Create a VM and install Windows Server 2022 Attached Screenshots of installed server. Item 2.4 As multiple servers are needed, keeping the Generic Master Server, create a clone for the Melbourne and Dandenong site.
