SOR 3004 Oral Presentations
The coursework for this module includes an oral presentation. The oral presentation is worth 10% of
each students final module mark. Each student will give a 10 minute presentation based on the
report/investigation that they have undertaken. These presentations will take place in week 12
during tutorial/ lab class or lecture times. If the situation changes then these will be pre-recorded.
The presentation should include more detail of what they did during the investigation and what
results they found.

Assessment of Oral Presentation:
Quality of presentation
- Was work presented in a logical sequence?

- Was the volume of content appropriate for the time-limit of presentation?

- Did the introduction provide a good lead-in to a person who was unfamiliar?

- Was the topic area presented in an understandable fashion?

- Were the examples used relevant?

Style of individual presenter
Did the presenter establish a rapport with the audience? e.g. Did the presenter engage and keep the
interest of the audience? Was eye contact made with the audience? Did the presenter demonstrate
enthusiasm?
Did the presenter make an effective delivery? e.g. Was the presenter audible? Consideration of the
speed/ pace/ tone/ use of pauses/ intonation/ rhythm of delivery.
Delivery should be well rehearsed and spoken (but not read like a script).
Did the presenter use appropriate language? e.g. Good vocabulary and grammar. Appropriate use of
technical terms.
Did the presenter make appropriate use of visual and other aids? e.g. The right medium for
communication was chosen and used well.
Were the visual and other aids of a high technical quality? e.g. Appropriate use of 3 headings/bullet
points. Table/graph labels should be easily read.
