FIT5145 Assignment 2: Proposal Title ： Pima Indians Diabetes prediction and influence factor Background Diabetes Overall Diabetes is a chronic disease, the pancreas dose not generate enough insulin or body can not use the insulin adequately can cause the disease. (World Health Organization , 2021). World Health Organization (2021) declines diabetic rose from 108 million to 422 million between 1980 and 2014. Prevalence has been rising more rapidly in developing countries than in developed countries. In 2019, 1.5 million people dead were caused by diabetes directly, and in 2016, it becomes the seventh leading cause of death (World Health Organization, 2021). Health impact Diabetes influence people’s heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys and nerves. Moreover, hyperglycaemia which mean high blood sugar is body produces serious damage to people’s systems, exclusively the nerves and blood vessels (World Health Organization, 2021). Pima People The Pima also called Akimel O’otham, who live in central and southern Arizona, and northwestern Mexico now. Diabetes treatment is not only closely related to people’s diet, but also to people’s genes. Like background mentioned, type two diabetes is body can not use insulin directly or hard to use. Baier and Hanson (2004) said Pima Indians have been sleeted to study of the ethology from 1965, and find Pima population appear to be universal. The type 2 diabetes diagnostic standard accepted by World Health Organisation were came up in the Native American population originally. This dataset downloaded from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Using this data to predict a patient has diabetes or not and analysing the influence factors which is the most impact factor. Will divid the dataset into training data and testing data using ML-mini model to predict and using logistic regression to find factors formula related to diabetes. Business Model Using this data can construct a model to predict a person will suffer diabetes or not, it is useful for everyone. If someone has a genetic history of diabetes, they can record your physical condition and use this model to test, they can find out as soon as possible, and treat this chronic disease in advance. For company, the model can be install in a sphygmomanometer, according to your blood pressure and your own physical condition, this model will give the patient or doctor a suggestion, these are functions that are not available in sphygmomanometers on the market. Moreover pharmaceutical companies can predict the future production volume of diabetes drugs by predicting trends.
