In a mobile cellular system, the provider decided to employ clusters of N = 4 cells as the basic pattern for
frequency reuse. Moreover cell sectoring is also used with 120-degree sectors. Consider hexagonal cells where
the borders of the sectors coincide with the edges of the hexagon (see the figure below). Do not use distance
approximations and consider that power control is implemented in order to find the worst case scenario.

a) (20 points) If the radius of each cell is R = 2 km, find the reuse distance and the co-channel reuse
factor.
b) (80 points) If n = 3.4 is the path loss exponent, find the worst case co-channel interference ratio (SIR)
for the uplink direction. Use suitable approximations if needed. You can use the pattern included in
next page to help you draw the clusters.
