STAT 101A Final Paper Guidelines
You need to include Eight components of a research report. They are as follows:
A title, an abstract, introduction, methodology, results, discussion, limitations
and conclusions, and references. It is highly recommended that your plots are
labeled and titled using ggplot2. No R codes in your final paper write-up.
Every Student needs to report their latest and final:
1. Name and SID as well as kaggle Nickname
2. Kaggle rank
3. Kaggle R2 score
4. The total number of predictors used.
5. The total number of Betas including B0
6. Latest BIC score of the final MLR model. “Use ExtractAIC(model,k=log(n))”
7. The Complexity Grade is based on 120 - the number of Bestas in your final
model.
• A title.
• The Abstract. The abstract is an overview of the research study and is typically two
paragraphs in length. Make sure to include your Kaggle name, R2 of your training model
and R2 of your testing model, your Kaggle final rank and the number of predictors of
your final model.
• Introduction: cars prices, your goal and your data size used to achieve your goal. Data
set Background.
• Methodology. (Must include evidence for the validity of your final model): Including
matrix plots, correlation plots, VIF, validation plots, transformations, mmps, leverage
plots, bad leverage points, weights (if any), creating new variables, etc…
• Results.
• Discussion.
• Limitations and conclusions.
• References.
