ECE 611 – Spring 2021 Khaled N. Khasawneh Page 1/2 Comprehensive Survey This involve locating relevant research literature, reading and understanding existing works to a specific topic, summarizing and providing a unified perspective. In addition, classifying solutions in the literature into conceptual categories, comparing and contrasting these categories is also needed. Essentially, a vast body of knowledge in a specialized area is crystallized into a precise, concise, and comprehensive report. Survey topic: Students are allowed to choose a topic of their interest as long as it overlaps with a broader definition of computer architecture. Can’t be done in a group Survey will be carried out individually. Survey timeline Phase 1: Survey topic determination (February 19th) Please upload your initial proposal to blackboard in PDF format by the deadline containing: 1. Survey Topic 2. Related work; list of 10 related papers including references and number of citations for each paper according to google scholar. In addition, include paper from the top conference in computer architecture, which are ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, and ASPLOS Phase 2: Survey topic discussion with instructor (February 22nd during the class) If I have any comments on the topic or selected papers, I will use part of the class to give feedback. This way the class students can get an idea about what others are working on and learn from the discussions. Your survey topic determination can be adjusted at this phase to incorporate the feedback. Phase 3: Survey topic proposal (February 26st) 1. Survey Name (think of this as your paper/report title) 2. Problem statement 3. Related work; list of 10 related papers including references and number of citations for each paper according to google scholar. In addition, include paper from the top conference in computer architecture, which are ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, and ASPLOS This is the deadline to submit the scholarly paper form to the department, if you are planning to do a scholarly paper. ECE 611 – Spring 2021 Khaled N. Khasawneh Page 2/2 Phase 5: Final Project Presentation (April 26 th) You are expected to present your survey in class at the end of semester. Please submit your final report in PDF format and use the ACM sigconf format. 2. There is no page limit (either minimum or maximum), and reports will be evaluated on technical content (not on length), but we expect that a typical report would be at least 5 pages long. 3.
