Please complete this lab after you read and view all other course materials posted this week. Complete additional research as needed. Due Date, Submission and Grading: This assignment is due on Monday November 30 at 11:59 pm ET. Assignments submitted on or before the due date which follow all requirements are eligible for up to 2% mark towards the MIR355 final grade. Late submissions are subject to a 20% mark deduction for each 24 hours (or part of). Objectives: After the completion of this exercise students will be able to: Connect to a remote Linux host for command line access Transfer files to a remote Linux host Use basic Linux commands to navigate the filesystem and display basic file information Create files and directories and organize their files Use a command line text editor to create simple Linux shell scripts Adjust file permissions Supplies/Equipment Required: • Matrix server account • Putty application Seneca College of Applied Arts &Technology School of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering Technology Page 2 of 2 – MIR355 – Lab Assignment 09 INSTRUCTIONS This lab assignment will be completed on the matrix server using a command line connection (Putty). If you have not user Putty before and/or do not have the matrix account yet, you may find the following video guide useful: https://youtu.be/YzsmSBEj7Vw Please view the following video guide before starting the work on Lab 09: https://youtu.be/Skgnh_QRAMY Log into your matrix account and obtain your personalized instructions using the following command: ~mir355/lab9 -start Your instructions will be stored in your account’s home directory as a plain-text file called lab9.details.txt and you can view them using a text editor such as nano or the less command on matrix. A copy of the instructions will be sent to your Seneca email address as well. Follow the instructions you will receive to complete the work and submit your solution for grading. It is recommended that you use two terminal (Putty) windows while working on the assignment - one for instructions and one for the actual work. The assignment does not need to be completed in one seating. Your answers are stored in shell script files and as long as you remember to save them and where they are, you can always re-open them and continue working later.
