Question 1. An instructor tests the hypothesis that his students have a mean grade of more than 75%. He obtains a
pvalue of 0.54. His sample average grade is 65.45%. Assume he has the standard deviation from a prior study.
Part A. Build a 95% confidence interval for the mean grade.
Part B. How large should his sample be to be accurate to a CI width of at most 2√ units?
Question 2. Consider the model = + + with = 1,2 and = 1,2,3 where ~(0,
2). Derive the
estimates of all the non sigma parameters.

Question 3. Eight cyclists ride their bikes down the road. Two radar guns measure the speed of the cyclists. We would
like to compare the speeds of the average riders as measured by the two guns.

Question 4. The heights of 16 people in the Netherlands are on average 74.21 inches with a standard deviation of 6.8.
The heights of 16 people from North America are on average 70.68 with a standard deviation of 4.2. Build a 95%
confidence interval comparing the heights of those in North America to those in the Netherlands.
