Assessed Statistics Summary Exercise
This assessment counts for 30% of the total assessment for the module.
You should now be reasonably familiar with the basics of Excel for Windows. To assess your current skills, you will be expected to complete the assignment below. It is the electronic copy of this report which should be handed in as required using Word or any other appropriate software package (Copying it into PDF format is probably the best). Charts and tables from Excel should be copied and pasted onto a word document. A cover sheet should include the Title, “Statistics Summary Exercise 2023”, along with your student ID number and degree programme.
The Gas emissions by industry Excel file will be required to complete this exercise. This can be found on Canvas.
Task
Use the Gas emissions by industry, statistics Excel file to complete this report. The report should be of no more than 750words and will summarise the greenhouse gas emissions databased on different industries. Exactly how you choose to do this will be up to the individual but should try and summarise the data provided using the statistical terms provided in this module.
Five-point summary, mean, standard deviation, variance,inter quartile range, mode, and range plus any other relevant calculation based on work done this term.
Reference to additional articles that you have found will add to the quality of your report.

Assessment Criteria
Your report will be assessed using the following criteria.
• Has the student used Excel effectively?
• Has the student written in a clear and concise fashion?
• Has the student used the mathematical techniques that have been discussed in lectures?
• Has the student referenced their work accurately and written in an appropriate style?
You must adhere to the suggested word count and should use the Panopto recordings that are on Canvas to help you with this exercise.
A clear rubric is included with the document that will be used for marking and providing feedback on this assignment.

• Calculate and comment upon summarising statistics using a computer software package.
• Carry out simple correlation and regression analysis
